Department of Hindi

The Department of Hindi prides itself on its commitment to the pursuit of knowledge and stands tall as a beacon of erudition and intellectual growth. Set up in 2016 under the aegis of highly dedicated and qualified faculty, the Department of Hindi embraces the spirit of Hindi literature with elegance and precision. The Department began offering Postgraduate courses in Hindi in 2023. The curriculum of this Department is meticulously designed to instil a deep appreciation of literature, language, and culture. The faculty, well-versed with the nuances of Hindi literature and language impart their wisdom and knowledge to the students, fostering an ambience of academic excellence. Their erudition and expertise ensure that the students develop a deep understanding of the literary canon and the intricate subtleties of Hindi literature and language. The different seminars and workshops organised by the Department allows the students and faculty a platform to engage in lively discussions on literary theories, themes, and interpretations. Programmes:

  • The Department offers full time courses in B.A. (Hindi) and M.A. (Hindi).
  • The four-year undergraduate programme in Hindi is divided into eight semesters. The syllabus in each semester introduces the students to literary study and focuses on critical techniques, approaches and debates to provide the students with the basic tools for literary analysis and appreciation. The introductory survey of the history of Hindi Literature is complemented by the study of set texts which have been contextualized within specific literary periods.
  • The M.A Hindi course is for two years and divided into four semesters. The course offers an overview of Hindi poetry, prose and drama aims to create an interest in the study of Hindi Literature through a study of texts, literary terms and related concepts.
