The IQAC of St. Xavier’s College, Simdega established the STAFF COUNCIL (TQM) on Sept. 19, 2025. The Staff Council, also known as the Total Quality Management Council, comprises senior academic administrators of the college and serves as the primary policy-making body within the institution. It facilitates discussions and finalizes internal processes to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the college. This includes meticulous planning and coordination for the introduction of new programmes, policies, or changes in existing processes, along with ensuring effective communication of outcomes to relevant departments.
In response to the increasing demand for quality education and heightened global competition, St. Xavier’s College, Simdega has embraced the adaptation and implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) procedures, tools, and techniques. This strategic approach aims to enhance cohesiveness, flexibility, and competitiveness in the education sector efficiently and effectively. By adopting TQM principles, the college strives to meet the evolving needs of students and society. TQM activities span across all departments, addressing the current and future needs of all stakeholders.
As a steering committee, the TQM ratifies all internal processes, initiatives, and procedures aimed at achieving quality performance. It identifies individuals and groups responsible for implementing selected criteria, thus fostering quality performance in education programs. These initiatives have propelled the institution towards achieving academic excellence, social concern, and character formation—The core values of St. Xavier’s College, Simdega.
The staff council is an advisory body that helps in smooth functioning of the college in academic and all other matters of the college and in the maintenance of discipline. The entire teaching faculty and the finance officer are the members of the council. The principal selects a Staff Secretary in discussion with the management. The secretary helps in holding the council meetings in consultation with the principal as and when required. The secretary maintains record of the minutes of every meeting duly signed by her/him. The duties are assigned to the staff council by the principal by forming various committees , clubs and societies related to academics, extra-curricular activities and administrative work of the college during an academic session. The council members discuss and offer suggestions on different matters for taking important decisions. The staff council also arranges activities like academic tours, farewell functions, picnics etc. for the staff. The members are supposed to sign in a register to mark their presence at the time of attending the meeting. Important decisions related to students and college welfare are taken in the staff council meetings. An official group has been created for the staff council on 'WhatsApp' to post official messages to minimize the use of paper and for faster communication.
