The central library of St. Xavier’s College, Simdega has a wonderful repository of books consisting of textbooks, reference books, journals, magazines, and newspapers. There is a dedicated reading section were both students and teachers can use these resources in a calm and peaceful ambience. The focus of St. Xavier’s College, Simdega central library is to ensure access to good books and journals which otherwise may be inaccessible for the students of this region. The central library is updated at regular intervals to maintain and enhance its quality. The immediate objective of the College is to digitize the library resources to make it more accessible for both the students and teachers.

The college library has more than 2300 Books and a few Periodicals and Journals. The members of the college community are exhorted to make the best use of the library subject to some conditions.

Library Timing

General Timings: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Monday to Saturday), Sundays & other Holidays Closed.

Library Rules

The Identity Card of the college should be produced along with a requisition slip with the request for a book.
College Identity Card is NON-TRANSFERRABLE. Using someone else’s ID is a punishable offence.
Silence has to be maintained and no discussion is permitted in the library.
Use of mobile phone with or without headphone is strictly prohibited in the library.
All students are allowed to borrow 2 books at a time for a period of 15 days. An overdue charge of Rs. 1/- will be charged per book per day if not returned within the due date.
Students should not deface, mark, cut or damage the reading material in any way. Persons doing so are liable to be fined heavily.
Sleeping, eating and having refreshments inside the Library are strictly prohibited.
After the final clearance, Library books are not be issued.
