The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the Indian military cadet corps with its head Quarters at New Delhi. The NCC in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over India. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades.
It focuses on the development of the cadet at the physical, mental, social and intellectual levels. It inculcates the qualities of courage, fellow- feeling, discipline, leadership and a secular perspective. It also instills a spirit of selfless service, sportsmanship and untiring dedication to duty.
St. Xavier's College, Simdega has presently a functional NCC unit, which organizes many camps throughout the year in which the youth are trained professionally by experts from the Army, Navy and Air wing. Cadets are awarded with ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates which enable them to obtain 5-10% advantage in securing employment with the Armed forces, Para military and Police. In addition, NCC also provides various kinds of scholarships, camps in adventure sports including parasailing, firing, paragliding, hot air balloon rides, rock climbing and mountaining every year. Besides, it also holds National Integration camp (NIC), Basic leadership camp (BLC) and Annual Training Camp (ATC).
Unity and Discipline
"I do hereby solemnly promise that I will serve my motherland most truly and loyally and that, I will abide by the rules and regulations of the National Cadet Crops. Further under the command and control of my commanding officer I will participate in every camp most sincerely and wholeheartedly".
We the cadet of the national cadet corps, do solemnly pledge that we shall always uphold the unity of india.We resolve to be disciplined and responsible citizen of our nation.We shall undertake positive community service in the spirit of selflessness and concern for our fellow beings.
